Few Gothic churches in the world today retain stained glass in all windows. St. Johns Church in Gouda is one of them. All its windows contain stained glass, known as the Stained-Glass Windows of Gouda. Together the 72 windows, most of which date back from the sixteenth century, form a unique ensemble. They are a pinnacle of European stained-glass art.
This is the first publication which contains illustrations of all windows and which gives a lucid description of their origins, themes and iconographic relationships.
